Public Primary and Secondary Education
- Baltimore County is starting the 2008 school year with wireless access for all its students.
- The Maryland State Department of Education says that, "for the fifth straight year, Maryland School Assessment scores increased for every system, grade, and subgroup."
- Governor Martin O'Malley's record-making investment in K-12 education gave the Milken Institute cause to rank Maryland "number one" for education investments in 2008.
Higher Education
- The Baltimore region is home to 27 four-year public institutions, 7 two-year public schools, and one two-year independent college.
- 33.6% of people over the age of 25 have Bachelor's degrees or better.
- 14.6% of people over 25 have Advanced degrees.
