Public Schools
Greater Baltimore has some of the top public school systems in the country.
- Education week recently named Maryland the number one state for overall K-12 education. View the press release here (PDF).
- Also recently ranked 3rd nationally among the largest U.S. metro areas, with neighboring Washington area schools ranking 1st and Howard and Carroll counties each received 'Gold' ratings in the rankings, placing these districts among the top in the U.S. (Expansion Management magazine)
- Newsweek ranking selected 64 Maryland public high schools as being among the top 1,200 in the nation.
Private Schools
The Baltimore area is home to a number of strong private schools that send students to many of the nation's top universities. Many of these schools offer Accelerated Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate programs and testing.
