Population
With the region’s population projected to increase by more than 8% by 2010 from 2.6 million to almost 3 million, Greater Baltimore is well-poised to maintain its vibrant economy. Already, approximately 90 percent of Maryland's 5.5 million residents live in the densely populated corridor between Baltimore and Washington, D.C.—the 4th most populous CSA in the nation with more than 8 million people.
Three of the most densely populated counties in the State are in Greater Baltimore—Baltimore City and neighboring Baltimore and Anne Arundel Counties.
Carroll and Cecil Counties are projected to experience growth rates of more than 20% during the current decade.
