Education & Workforce (updates in progress)
Greater Baltimore boasts one of the most talented workforces in the nation and has an elite network of secondary and post-secondary institutions. More than 340,000 students attend Maryland’s 59 accredited two or four-year colleges and universities, 26 of which are located within the region. Recently, the region has added 7,100 computer and math degree holders--more than L.A., San Francisco, Boston, and Dallas--and has the fastest growing rate of these degrees among large metros, behind only Seattle.
Additionally, Maryland’s 16 community colleges, spanning a network of 21 campuses, serve over 400,000 students annually. The highly educated workforce serves as the foundation for growth in the region’s diversified business base, including IT, cyber, biosciences, healthcare, financial services, government contracting, manufacturing, logistics, and legal services.
