Baltimore’s economy consistently performs better than the national average.  The graph below tracks the number of employers (establishments), the number of people they employ, and the average annual payroll, all of which are almost 2% higher for the state than the national average.

The Baltimore metropolitan economy makes up about 50% of the state economy in all three areas examined here, for the years featured.
