The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a measure of the average change over time in the prices paid by urban consumers for a market basket of consumer goods and services. Everyone is aware that prices have been rising lately; however, the CPI in the Baltimore metropolitan area has generally been far below the national average. Despite recent increases, the region still remains at about 65% of the national average.
