Maryland Port Administration to sign 10-year deal with Finnish paper maker
UPM-Kymmene will ship through Baltimore for the next decade.  The port already ranks nationally for importing forest products, and cargo totals are up to 700,000 tons per year.

SADOWSKI NAMED PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE ECONOMIC ALLIANCE OF GREATER BALTIMORE
J. Thomas “Tom” Sadowski has been named President and CEO of the economic development marketing organization by the Board of Directors.  Sadowski, who joined the Economic Alliance as Executive Vice President in January 2006, has served as Interim President and CEO of the organization since July when former President and Chief Executive Officer, Christian Johansson, stepped down from that post.

Region ranks second in country for tech employment
The Baltimore region, historically a manufacturing and distribution hub, is transitioning to one of the healthiest U.S. tech markets,  according to the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore’s IT Report.  Since 2000, the Baltimore-Washington region has added about 111,000 jobs in the IT industry, ranking first in the country in growth.

Report: Boost image of local IT community
Greater Baltimore has the 10th highest concentration of IT occupations of any metro area in the country.  The industry is a key economic driver, and has a signifigant impact on the local job market;  many of the 900 new jobs with Morgan Stanley will be IT related.
