Time for EAGB Friday Fun Facts!! One of America’s most used tools, the first portable handheld drill was invented in Greater Baltimore in 1917. Duncan Black and Alonzo Decker opened Black & Decker Manufacturing Company in Greater Baltimore and began work on designing the world’s first portable power tool. In 2009, Black and Decker merged with Stanley Works, an American hardware manufacturer - now called Stanley Black & Decker.
